More than 300 cats living in cramped quarters at the Toronto Humane Society are getting a new 6,000-square-foot home.
The "Cat Sky House" is a $2 million rooftop upgrade that relocates the felines into a healthier environment, says spokesperson Lee Oliver.
"There's nothing more frustrating than bringing in a healthy cat and they get a URI (upper respiratory infection) or some other disease and be sick while with us and not be able to adopt it out because it's ill," Oliver said.
The current cat population has had to put up with dark, crowded and noisy living conditions on the main floor, positioned next to the dog room.
