ROSEMARY - Questions and Statements
Is it fact, that Rosemary can cause seizures for some dogs, or dogs with seizures should not have rosemary?

I have an epileptic dog. While I don't add rosemary. I certainly don't worry about the small amounts that are found in many commercial products.

I think the cautions for epileptics are more for the essential oils.

It's used in some of the more "natural" dog foods as a preservative. Not that rosemary isn't a tasty and useful herb, but it's not one I'd reach for to treat a pet.

Not according to Mary Wulff-Tilford (a respected herbalist who co-wrote Herbs for Pets). Apparently, a factor is the
form of rosemary - oil or herb. I still think, though, that it could easily be a trigger for individual dogs.

Lemon Balm, ginko, rosemary(3) , hop, passionflower and perhaps kava kava (research is promising in the area of controlling seizures in rodents) may also be effective in the treatment of chronic seizures.
