I was just wondering if any of your poodles ever seem to "levatate" to, and want to meet and play with any particular breds :?: . I have noticed that Eve tolerates calm respectful dogs in general.. older dogs or dogs that dont have as much interest in her scent..kind of how cautious cats are when meeting new pets... That said Eve has only PLAYED with Yorkies, and shows great interest in them when she meets one. She shows interest in chihuahuas and poms but never had the opportunity to see them interact off lead, she didnt really show interest in other toy poodles though :!: She also enjoys the company of cats over dogs lol! We often call her our cat dog as she rubs herself on us like cats do! Just curious :D

With Snowy, gotten her when she was about 5 years old. She was not allowed to do much of anything before. Therefore wasn't really into playing with others. Heck she didn't even know what a ball was. Now she's 14 so playing time isn't much there.

Now if I could remember which been a while now my toy Sassy, he was the same as Eve. Only certain type breeds and mostly the small ones. lol But mostly love playing with other species more. Cats and mostly rabbits. A friend of the family had a pet rabbit. Much bigger then Sassy that is too.

Sassy would always go over and the two of them would basically play. Of course not if the rabbit was in the pen and Sassy on the outside. Then he would chase the rabbit around and then pee on it. Until one day when they had the rabbit out tied. Sassy thought he was really smart and was thinking it's in the pen and what happen next was the rabbit kicked him with his hind legs. After that incident we found the two of them laying beside each other munching on some food together. And they continue playing together too.

Hello,
When I first got Sasha, she used to let this sheltie smell her. She liked him, plus this small spoo in the neighborhood, though he was too big for her to romp with. The sheltie moved, then one day we were at Petsmart, and a chi tried hard to get her attention, and she would not even look at him. Couple minutes later, a sheltie comes walking in the store. and Sasha wanted to go to it. Maybe she thought it was Andy the sheltie.
Now Lilly, my three year old. At the dog park (and we don't go often) Will gravitate to the small fluffy dogs. One phantom poodle Paris would hang with her, and his owner said he does not hang out with hardly any dogs. Plus Lilly seems to get chihuahua boyfriends.

Now if you ask what I gravitate tooo. Its darn funny to see me rush all the poodle owners anywheres I see them. LOL
I got a new maale mini poo thru our rescue that I volenteer for named Tango. Today he gets his last puppy shot. He is about 7 months, but I did not want to risk him not being innoculated and get sick. So next week possibly we go to the dog parks halloween dog funtion. He likes to play alot. I know he likes our founders spoo. Its funny to see them together.

Hi Puttin510,
Glad to see you here! I find that it's more in the poo line mostly toys and mini that has this unique approach of picking and choosing if you will with other dogs. :D

Now I had an Husky that was just like that. Only liked certain types of dogs. But she was also a mini size never grew. So maybe she thought she was a poo.

Sasha may or may not thought the other dog was Andy. But she may have thought more in line of same litter. But this is guessing as I cannot read dogs minds. ;) Who knows what our pups are thinking about no matter what age. lol.

Would love to see your photos. If you like we could set you up with a gallery. And if you need help well Pam's the one to ask. She is really good at photo sizing and all that jazz.

Oscar - does not like other dogs at all.

He calls out to them at a distance. Gets closer - then one sniff and he is over it. Bigger dogs and he looks straight ahead. His total interest in other dogs extends to a few seconds.

Now if it is a two legged female, oh my god... it is a totally different story. He calls out to them, rubs himself up against their legs, talks to them, whines, runs between their legs, waits to be petted. His next trick is to get them to bend over and talk to him and when their mouth is open - he slips in the tongue. (we have to warn women all the time) He behaves as if they are the only one in the room. I notice that he looks at other dogs like they are foreign objects. If another dog smells his mouth he either growls or turns his face away.

He was socialised as a puppy but does not like other dogs very much.

So I think he is half dog/ half human. So we call him a humdog.

Marg

Marg,
Thanks for the laugh. There should have been a warning sign up. :ROFLOL: Nearly fell off my chair reading it.

Now when Oscar starts looking up skirts then we would have to worry about him. :ROFLOL: My one dog use to do this when we would go out and about. If a lady with a skirt was too close and not paying attention to him he would nose himself and pop up the skirt. :blushing:

Denise,

Oscar can't disappoint you - he loves to get under the skirts, particularly flowing ones. He loves to stand between a females legs, then put his head up and have a peek. When he was a pup he used to suck and chew our clean underwear - many a good pants were destroyed.

Now when males come to the house - we have to warn them to cross their legs or keep their legs together as Oscar loves to rub his crown on you know where.

You just can never tell who he is going to target.

ROFLOL,
Well, that gave me a laugh this morning with my coffee. I am never seen in a dress unless I am at the Kingdom Hall ! I hate dresses and skirts. I am definetly a slacks person. Or shorts, if it is hot weather.

Oscar is a card ! He must keep you in stitches all the time <G>

Lil_lea Diva does not see many dogs. We visit BJ across the court once in a while and she has 3, 2 Chi's and one small bull dog. Lil-Lea can not be bothered with any of them.

Yesterday, I had a woman come here to see the room we have for rent and she brought her tiny 4lb toy poodle. Lil-Lea gave a sniff or two, and that was that.

Of course she did not put her on the ground and I don't know what Lil might have done if she was running around. Maybe some day, I will get a chance to babysit someones small toy poo and we can see what Lil-Lea does.

What is it about poodles that they want to be so close to you - none of the other animals we have had were ever like this. Although with Oscar if attention can be had from people he would push me into oncoming traffic to get to the peoples. We took him to the specialist for his left eye and he made out he wanted to speak to the one eyed peckinese under the chair but all he wanted to do was get around the table to get pats and scratches from strangers. He gets the attention. If I did it they would put me in a straightjacket. When the vet came out he started growling at him - it's like don't disturbe me I am getting attention.

Great stories guys! Eve finally has assimilated herself into a poodle pack. SHe is way more relaxed and less fearful of other dogs she meets. Eve spent some time on the road with other poodles in Canada, and stayed almost a week with my friend that owns 3 poodles.. a toy and 1 mini and pup. Well, we were at the dog show this weekend showing, and decided to get some pix done for calendars. There was a line with 2 dachsies in front of us and we were sitting in the grass waiting. Well here comes this girl with her staff bull terrier, and one of the dachsies charges it!!! There was no fight thanks to the excellent temperment of the dog and thanks to the dachsies owner grabbing it. Well the commotion really scared my friends toy as he had been attacked and nearly lost his ear when he was just a puppy by a fox terrier. Here he is barking that high pitched bark, and my lil thug leaps into action!!!! I couldnt believe it! She was serious too! I felt the locomotion in my hand as I reached and snatched her by the flank and pulled her back. Soon as her boyfriend panicked she charged to protect her fellow pack member! She made no sound, she stared and charged like a lil pitbull! Totally not like her, she would normally turn tail and run from such a commotion. I am lucky I have the reflexes of a cat or she would have been in a fight!
