Hello ,
Thank you for your interest in Lets Talk Pet Foods Forum.
I am sorry to tell you that I am in the process of closing the forum due to lack of communication by members and the financial upkeep required on my part.
I recommend that you visit and perhaps consider subscribing to the newsletters on Susan Thixton's blog , The Truth about Pet Foods. http://www.truthaboutpetfood.com/ I am turning over all my information to Susan to add to her informative site.
Sincerely,

Puppy Farms
In the states I understand you call them puppy mills in Oz we call them puppy farms, same thing different name. But in New South Wales particularly Sydney, the animal welfare not animal rights groups are banding together to cease the trade of all animals in pet shops. Our Sydney Lord Mayor is leading the charge, there was a demonstration today at our state parliament and our sponsor doggy Cici was with her group Doggierescue demonstration (I was in doors working) - but the great fear is that it will send the puppy industry into more backyards and go under ground and we will still be in the same predicament with our little doggies. Australia has approximately 22 million people in population , we put down 60,000 dogs a year in sydney alone majority as in the USA are healthy dogs. God in heaven. How do we stop this slaughter of our canine friends. The pet industries earn billions, the advocates of industries are up in arms - saying they provide a service, but not when you have to put healthy dogs down. What do you do? I wrote to every local member in NSW and only one answered me. The rest just pass the buck - now it's up the anti isn't it!!

Let's Talk Pet Foods Post subject: Puppy Mills- Posted: Thu May 08, 2008 12:33 pm
I know ,
It is so sad.......... but I think that even if some are driven underground, not all have the ability to do that....... Hopefully it will at least make an impact on both the Puppy Mills and the Pet Stores that sells animals for profit........
I guess that is all we can hope for! And, if they end up shutting down the PA Mills that the AMISH run...........wow, that would be huge and they really have no place to go where they would not be noticed! I can hardly wait to see that happens, Rick and I are going to go out an celebrate with a huge dinner and some wine! and maybe a martini :) Well, I am going to have wine or a gin martini, as hubby rarely drinks anything but a beer on occasion, on a hot day! But I enjoy my martinis now and then.
There is more on the puppy mills in the Puppy Mill's below, in the rescue board area, in case you have not seen the posts in there. ....
